Know Your Brands - A brief story behind the name

More often than not, we buy well known branded perfumes and fragrances. These brands are household names and are well like and trusted by the young and old alike.
The brand name is usually written on the bottle of your favourite perfume, but do you know the story or the name behind the brand?

He slowly worked his way through the fashion industry before becoming Creative Director at Gucci rescuing the brand from bankruptcy. The name Lancôme was inspired by the ruins of a castle Le Château de Lancosme and was founded by Armand Petitjean in 1935.  The very same year, he launched five new fragrances simultaneously all of which were a success.

 Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent known as Yves Saint Laurent was an Algerian-born French fashion designer and is still regarded as one of the greatest names in fashion history. In 1957 at the age of just 21 Saint Laurent found himself as the head designer of Dior with his spring collection in 1958 saving the company from financial ruin. Celebrity Perfumes – The Verdict

When you are thinking of buying a new perfume, you tend to go online or go in store and stick with trusted, well known and favourite brands as you know they won’t disappoint.
It may come as a surprise to know that in 2013, celebrity perfumes brought in £18bn worldwide with £225 million of that in the UK alone.
It may be an even bigger surprise to know that pop boy group One Direction contributed hugely to this total with their debut fragrance becoming officially the fastest-selling perfume of all time. When Our Moment outsold icon perfume fragrances such as Christian Dior’s Miss Dior and Chanel No.5, it came as a huge shock to the beauty industry.

So with that in mind, maybe it isn’t such a bad thing owning a celebrity fragrance?
We’re quite fond of them ourselves – so we have put together just a few of our favourites with a brief description for you to make up your own mind.

Jennifer Lopez - Glow After Dark £21.45

Inspired by the feeling you get when out enjoying the nightlife with friends, this fragrance opens up with a burst of fruitiness making it a soft an enveloping fragrance. The staying power is great, fading down to a sweet floral scent.

Paris Hilton – Fairy Dust £7.25

Upon opening the bottle, the smell is slightly overpowering, however, once sprayed and it has settled on your skin, it gives off a gorgeous floral scent that lasts all day long. Light and fresh it’s a perfect day time perfume. A decent perfume for all ages.

Britney Spears – Hidden Fantasy £9.95

Noted as the most “grown up” of the Fantasy line, Hidden opens with a citrus burst settling down to a delicious candy-like smell that lasts up to 8 hours. A perfect fragrance for spring and summer time.

 Beyonce – Heat £38.00

A warm fruity fragrance with peach being the most prominent fruit smelt. A mature perfume without the diva and playfulness. A worthy investment for all year-round wear.

Rhianna – Reb’l Fleur £16.42

A great creamy coconut fragrance with a hint of spice and full of flavour. An expensive delivery with lovely sillage and longevity.
Whether you wear during the day or night, you will command attention wherever you go.

If you are still not willing to give celebrity perfumes a try, fear not! We have plenty of well-established branded Designer Fragrances on offer.
From Jimmy Choo and Juicy Couture to Estee Lauder and Lavin.
We believe all our perfumes to be the best perfumes for women. And men!

Britney Spears

Britney at the height of her fame released her first perfume Curious in 2004 with Elizabeth Arden as the license holder and in just 5 weeks earned $100 million in sales. At the time it became Elizabeth Arden’s Top Selling Fragrance worldwide.

Fantasy followed a year later becoming the best selling fragrance of 2006. Britney released a further 14 perfumes and as of 2012, her fragrances brand had grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide.

They have issued ‘His’ & ‘Hers’ fragrances and have collaborated with perfumers such as Pierre Negrin, Jean-Christophe Herault, Alain Astori and Nathalie Lorson.
Advertisements typically feature provocative photos of the world famous couple, making the Beckham fragrance range one of the best-selling celebrity lines in the world today.

Beyonce launched her first fragrance ‘Heat’ on February 3rd 2010, using the tagline “Catch the fever” and was therefore promoted with a cover version of “Fever”.

Prior to releasing her own perfume, she collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger on his perfume True Star in 2004. The six editions of Heat are the world’s best selling celebrity fragrance line with sales over $400 million.

One Direction
