As recently as December of last year, it has been noted that Celebrity perfumes are outselling established brands so we thought we would give you the lowdown on four of our most popular celebrity fragrances:
Britney Spears
Britney Spears
Britney at the height of her fame released her first perfume Curious in 2004 with Elizabeth Arden as the license holder and in just 5 weeks earned $100 million in sales. At the time it became Elizabeth Arden’s Top Selling Fragrance worldwide.
Fantasy followed a year later becoming the best selling fragrance of 2006. Britney released a further 14 perfumes and as of 2012, her fragrances brand had grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide.
David & Victoria Beckham
In conjunction with global beauty products manufacturer Coty, The Beckhams have launched 25 fragrances between them with David starting the trend in 2005 with Instinct for men.
They have issued ‘His’ & ‘Hers’ fragrances and have collaborated with perfumers such as Pierre Negrin, Jean-Christophe Herault, Alain Astori and Nathalie Lorson.
Advertisements typically feature provocative photos of the world famous couple, making the Beckham fragrance range one of the best-selling celebrity lines in the world today.
Beyonce
Beyonce launched her first fragrance ‘Heat’ on February 3rd 2010, using the tagline “Catch the fever” and was therefore promoted with a cover version of “Fever”.
Prior to releasing her own perfume, she collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger on his perfume True Star in 2004. The six editions of Heat are the world’s best selling celebrity fragrance line with sales over $400 million.
One Direction
This boy group famous on all corners of the globe released their first fragrance Our Moment in autumn of 2013, showcasing to their fans what they like smell-wise on girls. It became the fastest ever selling fragrance netting the boys £360K in its first week alone.
Their second perfume That Moment was released in May of last year and the third You and I was confirmed during the summer.
